KENDAMA TOHOKU は、ビームス創造研究所とヤフー株式会社の復興デパートメントが共に企画運営するプロジェクトとして、2014 年にスタートしました。東日本大震災によって被災 した地域の事業の復興支援と継続的な活性化を目指し、東北各地の工房やブランドによる確か なものづくりに、話題のクリエイターによるデザインをかけ合わせた商品開発を続けています。

The Kendama Tohoku project was launched in 2014 as a means to bring continuous business to the Tohoku (northeastern Japan) region’s craftsmen and industries who suffered damage from the 2011 earthquakes. The kendama, now better known as a global street sport, originated in Japan over a century ago in its current form and gained national recognition as a children’s toy. The Kendama Tohoku project connects the newer global trend with Japan’s craftsmen and creatives through exclusive designs and local crafts. New models are released continuously to keep the initiative alive.
